We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Advisor Risk Reduction to join our busy team for a fixed term period of 12 months. Reporting to the Community Risk Manager, you'll be responsible for undertaking the delivery, supporting, and advising on risk reduction functions and activities across the built and natural environments.
This role includes using data, information and intelligence to monitor and review risk reduction delivery and compliance activity i.e. building safety, fire control and take remedial action.Work with Maori as tangata whenua across the built and natural environments.Deliver risk reduction technical programmes and initiatives that are aligned and consistent with national programmes, policies, processes, tools, and systems.Work closely with group managers and brigades to develop and enhance their understanding of the 4 R's of emergency management.Provide advice and expertise on the management of risks relating to all fire types in both built and natural environments (for example, house, factory, bush, and grass fires).Deliver risk reduction, compliance, and enforcement functions across both natural and built environments.This role will also require being on call and the occasional work during weekends or outside of 'normal' business hours Ko tau na i tenei turanga - What you'll bring to the role: Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements across the natural and built environmentsAbility to establish credibility with Iwi and Maori communities, as key stakeholders in Fire and Emergency's workAdept at building collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people and organisations To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will: Have strong communication skills to convey complex and technical information to a wide range of people and organisationsBe proficient with the use of MS Office applications, i.e. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPointHold a current clean driver's licence (essential)Be an agile person who is happy working from the office some days or some days be on the road, or out and about in the communityHave experience working in risk reduction, compliance, stake holder management or a regulatory position.Can interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, standards and compliance requirements.
