This critical role will be responsible for leading and empowering teams in the strengthening of partnerships with Maaori. We have a strong desire within our organisation for this change and it is important that all applicants understand we are at the beginning of this journey.What I doYou will work alongside our Executive Manager- Maaori Partnerships fostering strategic relationships and strengthening connections across the local district including those with iwi, communities, happu and marae. You will attend regular meetings and forums maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, while connecting in with different governments to build partnerships and help identify or implement opportunities. You will be providing high quality advice to internal and external stakeholders and be the main point of contact.In this role you will work closely with staff at all levels, using your confident communication style, ability to inspire action and great relationship skills to successfully progress the development of People Leaders and the Executive Leadership Team. You will support the Executive Manager - Maaori Partnerships in the development of a strategic framework for how the council will work with iwi and other community groups now and into the future. This role requires a person with tenacity and a passion to bring our vision to life.What I bring?The successful candidate will have five plus years' experience in a similar role or at an advisory level. You will have well developed networks, credibility and relationships with iwi, marae, hapuu, particularly within Waikato, Te Nehenehenui and Hauraki. It is important to have a commitment to Te Ao Maaori and be able to promote tikanga and Te Reo Maaori. We are looking for someone that has strong team building, interpersonal, presentation skills with the ability to effectively lead and influence others. We would prefer someone that has knowledge of and experience in collaborative leadership, collective impact, co-ordination and facilitation. It is essential to have the knowledge, or a willingness to gain an appreciation, of te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana.This role would include travelling around the district and therefore we require the candidate to have a clean drivers licence and willingness to drive council vehicles.Why join our team?We offer a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities within the role and as part of our strategic cultural initiatives that see us making this a great place to work.
