Fire and Emergency New Zealand – Manukau City, North Island Join our team and provide risk reduction advice and expertise to support communities across the Te Hiku Region based in Counties Manukau District.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Advisor Risk Reduction to join our busy team, reporting to the Community Risk Manager.
You'll be responsible for undertaking a range of technical work including fire investigation (on-call), fire engineering briefs, evacuation schemes, regulatory compliance, education, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities: Delivering risk reduction technical programmes and initiatives that are aligned and consistent with national programmes, policies, processes, tools, and systems.
Supporting the delivery of compliance activities, including fire permits and evacuation scheme approvals.
Working collaboratively with the wider Community Risk Team in the delivery of tools, programmes, events, and advice to communities.
Working collaboratively with Iwi and Maori, and other key stakeholders and community organisations to prevent fires and other emergencies and build long term sustainable community resilience.
Please note this role requires being part of an on-call roster and some work during weekends or outside 'normal' business hours.
What You'll Bring to the Role: Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying relevant legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements across the natural and built environments.
Adept at building collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people, including Iwi and Maori, community organisations, and stakeholders.
The ability to convey complex and technical information to a wide range of people and organisations.
To be Successful in This Role, We'd Expect You Will: Be a team player willing to learn and continually improve skills and knowledge.
Have strong communication skills to convey complex and technical information to a wide range of people and organisations.
Be proficient with the use of MS Office applications, i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Be an agile person who is happy working from the office or working autonomously on the road, or out and about in our communities.
Have experience working in risk reduction, compliance, or a regulatory position.
Be able to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
Hold a current clean driver's licence (essential).

The salary range for this role is $98,411 - $109,346 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
