Accounts Payable Officer

Samuel Marsden Collegiate School is a leading Wellington independent school for girls. We are seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to work part-time (30 hours/week) in our finance and administration team. The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for processing accounts payable in a timely and accurate manner, providing administrative assistance and support to the COO and Accountant, and undertaking additional purchasing and analysis activities as required. The Accounts Payable Officer is a core member of the Finance and Administration team. This pivotal role covers a range of duties including: ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, including obtaining authorisation of expenditureanswering all queries in respect of accounts payable promptly and appropriatelyloading bank transactions daily into the financial management systemreconciling the bank account on a daily basis, investigating and resolving reconciling or anomalous itemsundertaking special projects as requiredbeing a good team member, maintaining positive relationships with teaching and support staffproviding backup for other team members (e.g. reception etc.) as required.The successful applicant will have the following attributes: Previous expertise in a financial or administration support role to a manager and/or team.Previous school experience is an advantageHigh standards of delivery, including accuracy and attention to detailWell-developed planning and organisational skills, including ability to effectively prioritise tasks under pressureDemonstrated ability to contribute to and work with people and as part of a teamGood people skills, including established ability to build and maintain effective relationships; the ability to liaise with staff, students, parents and external suppliersProficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite, and the ability to assimilate new systems and ways of working quickly and efficientlyAbility to work autonomously and within guidelines, demonstrating a use of sound judgementDemonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, including adaptability and openness to changeAbility to anticipate issues and problems and apply creative solutionsDisplay personal integrity and an honest and ethical approachConfidentiality, professionalism, flexibility are requiredA detailed position description is on our website  apply for the position, please send a cover letter together with your CV to the Principal, Samuel Marsden Collegiate School at (email protected) Applications close on Friday 1 November at 4.00pm and will be considered as they are received.
