This could be your reality as you join their friendly, Havelock North-based team in a key support role, as an Assistant Accountant. Not only will you assist in managing the financial operations, but you'll also provide administrative and operational support to help this organisation continue its meaningful work. The perfect person for the role will be someone who has cut their teeth in an accounting support role. They will be upbeat and positive, with a can-do attitude and enjoy assisting with other administrative and operational tasks, as required. Responsibilities: Keep the financial systems running smoothly by processing and reconciling bank statements. Manage Accounts Payable entries, reconciliations, and filing. Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements. Manage weekly and monthly GMP statements and reconciliations. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure accurate reconciliation of bank loans. Support the preparation and collation of monthly Board packs. Assist with licence management by preparing forecasts for license renewals and managing new venue licenses and gaming machine changes. Perform operational administrative tasks such as processing purchase orders & arranging cash collection services. Calculate and process weekly rental payments for venues. Perform Excel data entry for various reconciliations, including both regular and ad hoc projects. About You: We are looking for someone with… Solid accounting experience, with Min 2+ years in a similar role. Knowledge of financial reporting (monthly and annual). Strong work ethics and pro-active work habits. Enjoys the nitty gritty, is super thorough, has an eye for detail and champions accuracy. Confident systems use, MS Office Suite, including intermediate Excel. Sound analytical skills with the ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving. Self-motivated with a positive "can-do" attitude. A friendly, team-oriented personality, with the flexibility to assist with both financial and administrative tasks. While formal accounting qualifications are a bonus, we welcome candidates with the right level of experience from a similar accounting or administrative role.
