In this role, you will support accurate financial reporting for the Council, ensuring compliance with New Zealand accounting standards. You'll play a crucial part in preparing monthly and annual financial reports, maintaining data integrity, and supporting audit and tax processes. If you're passionate about finance and eager to contribute to meaningful projects, this is a great opportunity to make an impact within the community.This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Your focus in this role will include:Preparing monthly and annual financial reports with accuracy and timeliness.Conducting balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining data accuracy within the ERP system.Supporting period-end processes, including journal entries and accruals.Assisting with tax return preparation and ensuring regulatory compliance.Participating in ERP system testing to uphold data integrity.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and report financial data.We are looking for an analytical thinker with a solid accounting background who can work collaboratively with a high-performing team. You should have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously within a dynamic environment.To excel in this role, you should possess:A Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance (essential).Preferably full CA membership with CAANZ (or working towards it).A minimum of 3 years' experience in a medium to large finance team, with management accounting experience desirable.Strong IT skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communication skills for building relationships and influencing stakeholders.High initiative and flexibility, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.About usPalmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
