Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand Incorporated (Transporting New Zealand) is a national membership association representing individual road freight transport companies that are committed to delivering all types of goods to ensure the comfort, health and wellbeing of New Zealanders, come what may.
We are passionate about providing support and development for the vital transport lifeblood of New Zealand industry.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the accounts for an incorporated society, a company and a charitable trust
Compiling annual budgets
Bi-monthly financial performance reports for the Board
Control cash flow and maximise investments
Ensure the Companies, Societies and Trusts, and Charities Registers are kept up to date
Accounts receivable and payable
Reconciliations of accounts and preparing accounts for audit
Calculate and file GST and tax returns including FBT complying with Inland Revenue requirements
Payroll
Governance Support
Provide administrative support to the Chief Executive and Transporting New Zealand Board, ensuring the preparation of meeting agendas, distribution of Board papers, recording of Board minutes, and management of meeting venues and catering.
Ensure all statutory and governance requirements are met.
Leadership and Group Management
Provide leadership, coaching and support the wellbeing of direct reports.
Review direct reports performance regularly and provide opportunities for development.
Relationship Management
Develop professional working relationships with the Chief Executive and other senior members of the Transporting New Zealand team.
Identify and build key relationships with Industry and members.
Maintain relationships with our service providers and suppliers.
Event Management
Plan, promote and run events such as conferences, seminars and regional meetings.
Organise meetings with key stakeholders.
Contact potential sponsors and presenters.
Prepare budgets and manage costs.
Human Resources
Support the Chief Executive with organisational and human resource matters.
Manage and process payroll ensuring all staff are paid accurately and on time.
Ensure our people are safe, making sure Transporting New Zealand is compliant with our health and safety policy and procedures.
Oversee and support performance review policy and process ensuring regular reviews occur and people are rewarded appropriately.
Maintain our employee files and ensure contracts are up to date, leave is recorded, and managed and Transporting New Zealand complies with MBIE standards.
What we are looking for:
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience managing the financial performance of a membership organisation.
Proven experience in a hands-on Finance/Business Manager role – at least 5 years.
Strong technical accounting skills.
Experience managing a small team.
Knowledge and understanding of human resource and health and safety compliance.
People and team management experience.
Affinity with our industry and the skills to build relationships with colleagues, as well as external stakeholders.
Sensitive and open to different cultures and values.
Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a talent for prioritising tasks.
Skilled in MS Office applications.
Must be a NZ citizen or hold a residence class visa.
