About the role: In this role, you support a broad team of qualified technical staff responsible for the maintenance, repair and response of critical services and systems covering Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire.
The Services Technician role will be the first to respond to alerts and alarms generated by our electronic systems and determine if escalation is required to third party specialty contractors.
Shift team members will proactively perform inspections to ensure all critical infrastructure is operating as designed and to identify any possible risk to the infrastructure and buildings.
The position will monitor the critical infrastructure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and be able to make quick decisions on escalations based on their experience.
Other responsibilities include: Ensures all planned maintenance activities are completed within their shift.
Handover of work safely and on time to ensure clean transition between shift and day teams.
Undertakes daily site reviews to ensure all infrastructure is operating correctly with all commissioned settings configured.
Support the Technical Services - day team to conduct tests and regular assessments of technical services infrastructure as planned.
Respond quickly to all service requests and emergency faults.
Efficiently troubleshoot and repair technical service infrastructure and systems directly or with the support of CDC's supplier and contractors.
Communicate all identified risk immediately as they are identified.
Provide estimated timelines for repairs with key internal teams so communications with clients can be coordinated.
Lodgment of all complete maintenance service reports into the CMMS.
Ensure all issues identified within maintenance service reports are addressed.
Provide support to clients as required or directed by management.
Enforcement of safe work practices in accordance with CDC policy and regulated standards.
Write procedures for critical maintenance and emergency operations.
About you: Trade or Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical – Refrigeration – Mechanical - Mechatronics – Fire) 5+ Years -Trade or Critical Facilities Experience Prior Experience in Supervision or Coordination of staff, contractors and suppliers qualified to operate or maintain critical infrastructure and prioritising staff workload.
Prior Experience in critical infrastructure environments and adhering to strict procedures and policies.
Prior Experience operating Building Management Systems (BMS or Energy Management Systems (EMS) Exposure to data centre equipment - CRAC units, UPS, Generators, Fire, etc.
Extensive experience in operating critical infrastructure in accordance with regulated standards and safety procedures.
Desirable: HV Electrical Switching Certification Work Health Safety Certification.
Prior experience with a commercial Data Centre provider in a similar role.
Ability to work on a rotational shift roster (24x7) Ability to be available for on call remote technical support.
Essential: New Zealand citizenship.
