Job DescriptionWe invite applicants for the position of Assistant Farm Manager. This is a great opportunity for someone able and capable of management level. Showing experience and having qualities and the ability to move forward in the dairy industry, with strong support and guidance from the on-farm manager and business manager. You will have involvement along with the ability to contribute to the day-to-day planning and management of the farm with Health and Safety at the forefront of mind.The Business:Southburn Dairy Ltd is located 12 min from Timaru. We farm 1180ha made up of cropping, young stock, beef, and two dairy farms, a 60 bail rotary and a 40 aside herringbone. Both farms run alongside each other under the same management. The properties consist of rolling hills and flat land with pivot irrigation, k-lines, and hard hose guns with a feed support block just 5kms down the road. This position is for Assistant Farm Manager of the 40 aside herringbone Somerset dairy farm.The Role:The successful applicants need to have the following attributes and competencies to assist the operation of the farms:Proud of being a high performerAbility to create a positive environment and on-farm cultureAble to motivate and guide their team to achieve top resultsExcellent communications, staff management, and animal husbandry skillsAttention to detailSkilled in modern farming practicesAmbitious and motivatedTrustworthy and respectfulHave full driver's licenseBe drug-freeOrganised and takes pride in the workplace and homesProactive approach to your daysManage and control milking shed twice a dayOn-farm training for all aspects of the role will be given for the right applicant. Having experience on rolling hills is a benefit but training will be provided.
