We are looking for someone to work Awake Shifts and join our youth-focused team to help support taiohi in a homelike environment. Our spirit is 'loving life', and that's what we do: we work with our taiohi to realise this aspiration. We provide health and wellbeing services working with local community supports to help taiohi aged 12-24 develop life skills and build strong connections, including their school, employer, whanau, and friends.
The Role:
This role is permanent, part-time working Sunday and Monday, 11:00pm-7:30am. We're looking for a youth worker to join our Nelson House team and report to the Team Coach. You'll be supporting taiohi in a home-like environment to develop life skills so they can thrive in their community. You must have the ability to relate to taiohi and help them with goal planning, building their wellbeing, resilience, and confidence.
Requirements:
In this role you will need:
Hold a National Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Support Work (level 4), National Certificate in Youth Work, Level 4 certificate in Health and Wellbeing, or a health qualification or above tertiary qualificationExperience in working with young people and an understanding of trauma-informed careBe experienced or comfortable with group facilitationPassionate about supporting young people to build confidence and resilienceBoth de-escalation skills and relationship building skillsA current full New Zealand driver's licenceA current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain oneKnowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o WaitangiClosing Date: 15 November 2024.
