An exciting opportunity has become available in Odyssey's innovative, school-based programme, Stand Up! & Amplify!
This programme takes a developmental approach to engaging with rangatahi (young people) whose lives are impacted by alcohol and/or other drugs. You will be a motivator for positive change, working with rangatahi in assigned secondary schools across South Auckland. Through group and individual interventions, you will support them to identify and achieve their own goals within the programme.
Maturity, reliability, honesty and common sense are key attributes we are seeking. Our ideal candidate will also have:
Up to 1 year' experience working with rangatahi in a health, mental health or addictions settingA relevant tertiary (L7) qualification e.g. Bachelors in Health Science, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, EducationA passion for working with young people in the field of youth developmentKnowledge of the effects related to the misuse of alcohol and other drugs, including methamphetamines and other current substances of use/abuseAbility to work both autonomously and as part of a teamKnowledge of the customs/culture of different Pacific Peoples, tikanga Maori and the application te Tiriti o Waitangi to own area of professional practiceStrong communication skills and ability to establish effective relationships and networksIn return we offer: A salary between $65,915 and $73,590 depending on registration and experience.22 days annual leave plus 5 days paid study leave per annum.Great training and professional development opportunitiesA dynamic, fun team who are passionate about what they do.As a member of a lively, passionate team of youth practitioners, you will be supported to work with our clients/rangatahi through on-going, training, professional development and clinical supervision.
