Substance Abuse and Behavioral Disorder CounselorWould you like to be actively involved in supporting young people to identify patterns in their life that they want to shift and support them in achieving their potential?We now have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Practitioner to join the team and be part of a group of mental health and addiction providers collaborating to deliver a service in the Counties Manukau area.This service aims to develop cohesive and responsive services that meet the wellbeing needs of young people. This will result in young people having increased access and choice of services to meet their primary mental health and addiction (MH&A) need by offering flexible pathways with an 'any door being the right door' approach. We will operate seamlessly as a cohesive suite of service to support young people in a range of settings.Young people and their whanau will be at the centre of decision making and equity will be at the forefront of all service development. The suite of services involved in this approach will ensure there is a stepped approach to intensity of service provision depending on the complexity of the young person's needs, from supportive to more intensive interventions.The successful candidate will have:1-3 years' relevant work experience in a similar role, including experience working with youthRegistration with a relevant professional body e.g. HPCA, Social Work, DAPAANZ, or on a pathway to gaining registration.Knowledge of child and adolescent development and of addiction issuesExcellent engagement, communication, and motivational enhancement skillsA passion for working with young peopleCommitment to the Te Tiriti o WaitangiFull Current New Zealand Drivers LicenceIn return we can offer you:A salary between $65,915 - $73,590, depending on skills and experienceMonday to Friday: 7.30am – 4.00pm22 days annual leave + 5 days paid study leave per annumTo be part of growing a service for rangatahi within the Auckland region.To take your career to the next level and utilize your skills and experienceTo apply, please send us your CV and a cover letter and complete the additional information questionnaire online.
