The overriding mission of everyone who works at this organisation is a desire to improve holistic wellbeing and development to all.About the Role - Youth MentorTe Runanga o Kirikiriroa is seeking dedicated Youth Mentors - Residential Service within their Iti Mapihi Pounamu Team. Iti Mapihi Pounamu is a 3-bed youth wellbeing whare situated on a 10-acre farm on the outskirts of Hamilton. They support wahine rangatahi who come to their whare to return home to their whanau. They work closely with them to achieve goals and encourage active learning in a safe environment.Position detailsMonday - Sunday, (12-hour shift rostered 4 days on, 4 days off shift rotation). Please note, the role requires to work on a roster of 7.00am-7.00pm on a fortnightly rotational basis.$60,060.00 - $64,480.00 per year (depending of qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity)A day in the roleProviding care for wahine with heightened needs and vulnerabilitiesWorking one on one with wahine, and striving to connect them to their culture and get to know themselves (achieved through being active, fishing, climbing their maunga)Working closely with external providersFollowing procedures and policies to best support tamataneWorking towards getting wahine back home to whanauSupporting wahine with any issues they come across (mental health, addiction, family crisis etc)We are seeking Youth Mentors whoPride themself on their ability to work to a whanau first, tikanga based, wellbeing approachHave a positive and supportive mindset in supporting our taiohi to achieve their goals and aspirationsHave a basic understanding of te ao Maori principles (e.g. te reo and tikanga) and a willingness to learn more in this areaHave 1-3 years working in a kaupapa Maori environmentHave 1-3 years experience in mentoring taiohiHave a level 4 qualification in youth work and level 5 qualification in social services, te reo Maori, tikanga Maori or be prepared to study towards one or more of these qualificationsHave evidence of being fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19Have a full drivers licenceHave proof of your right to work in New Zealand (One year minimum)BenefitsWork with a passionate, driven organisation and experienced leadership teamContribute to urban Maori and Pasifika communities community and support the holistic wellbeing of tamatane seeking supportContinuous professional development and training opportunities availableMedical InsuranceFree parkingMonthly Supervision / MentoringIf you believe you would enjoy working in a kaupapa Maori organisation, possess a strong work ethic, and envision your career pathway in supporting our whanaunga, then this is the perfect role for you!
