Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Workshop Technician to join our team at StraitNZ Bluebridge Limited.
We are looking for an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic to join our busy Wellington workshop based at the Bluebridge freight terminal.
This is a full-time permanent position based on a minimum 40-hour week.
The work is mainly Monday to Friday.
Some after-hours and weekend work may be required for operational demands.
You will need at least three years vehicle and diesel engine maintenance experience.
As a minimum, you will need to hold a certificate or diploma level qualification as an automobile/engine mechanic.
You may be required to drive the vehicles, so a Class 4 license would be advantageous for the preferred candidate.
As the Workshop Technician, you have the following responsibilities: Carry out maintenance and repair works on ship support vehicles and cargo operations equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults and carry out repairs as appropriate on ship support vehicles and cargo operations equipment.
Maintain records of any maintenance or repair works on ship support vehicles and cargo operations equipment.
Advise the workshop supervisor of spare parts and tooling requirements.
Maintain workshop machinery and tools in good, safe working order.
Maintain workshop and associated areas in clean/tidy condition.
Assist the StraitNZ Bluebridge ship support workshop as required.
Requirements: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Good physical stamina and ability to work in various positions and environments.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to be flexible with shift rostering / being available.
