Workshop Manager/Diesel Mechanic

Then come join a strong South Taranaki business as their Workshop Manager.
You will expertly lead the team and also be hands-on completing vehicle repairs and maintenance.
The role can be challenging; you need to think on your feet and multi-task to maintain the vehicle fleet and plant and equipment to a high standard.
You will also focus on being time-efficient, cost-effective, and meeting industry legal and safety standards.
Strong communication skills are essential for communicating internally and with sub-contractors and suppliers.
To be successful you need: Excellent communication, workload management, and able to prioritise.
Flexible, good leadership skills, strong attention to detail.
Manage pressure well, being decisive with quick and clear thinking.
Full commitment to health and safety and quality standards and legal requirements.
Key responsibilities: Plan and manage the day-to-day workload of the workshop.
Lead the workflow with your team of technicians, including yourself.
Communicate well with business groups and the operations team to plan services, maintenance, and repairs to meet the business needs.
Update them during repairs with regular progress updates and timeframes.
Work collaboratively with the Parts Coordinator, identifying the parts needed for current and future work.
Communicate with all external suppliers and subcontractors.
Organise breakdown assistance and repairs, including out-of-town callouts.
Ensure vehicle services are conducted on time, to a high standard, and maintain accurate records for all vehicles and equipment.
When required, be part of senior management planning meetings to understand forecasted future work, start times, completion times, and the resources required.
Maintain and update the workshop planning and booking system.
