Department of Conservation NZ – Invercargill, South Island Exciting opportunity to support and deliver a capital works programme across the Southern South Island Region.The salary range for this position is $68,535 to $86,423.Permanent, full-time position based in Dunedin or Invercargill.Our vision: Nature is thriving in Aotearoa | Te Oranga o te Ao TuroaDepartment of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature spaces and species across Aotearoa.Tangata whenua are inextricably linked to the whenua and te taiao, and we desire a future where whanau, hapu and iwi can thrive in their role as rangatira and kaitiaki.As one of two Works Officers in the SSI Region, you will manage a variety of construction projects, ranging from visitor experience improvement work, high priority treaty partner projects, safety related work and asset replacements. You will work as part of a small team to successfully deliver projects to planned scope, time, and budget.The position will be focussed on:managing projects: procurement, consultant management, consents, tendering, and construction contractsmaintaining project documentation, team, and governance reportingusing the Department's Project Management Framework for all project deliverables, including business case development and reportingadhering to best practices in procurement, tender, contract, and supplier management.As a proactive team player, you'll bring a collaborative and solution-focused approach, working well with operations teams, contractors, and Treaty partners.If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:a qualification and/or relevant experience in construction or project / contract managementthe ability to develop and maintain relationships and work as part of a high functioning team.sound level of knowledge and practice of capital and operational budget management within the context of project deliveryan understanding of, or experience with, applying for statutory consents such as resource or building consentsa sound knowledge of contractor health and safety managementa valid full driving licencehigh level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPointstrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.Knowledge and understanding of the work of Te Papa Atawhai/The Department of Conservation.An interest/passion for conservationKnowledge of/experience the Southern South Island RegionDOC places importance on developing a culture where everyone can participate, thrive, and grow.
