This role involves working across various ports throughout the South and North Island, so flexibility and willingness to travel are essential. Position: Workplace Trainer and Assessor Location: Based at our Lyttelton worksite Status: Monday to Friday office-based role Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Workplace Trainer and Assessor to join our Health, Safety, and Training Division. This role is pivotal in training and assessing new and existing employees engaged in port operations. The successful candidate will ensure that trainees are competent and capable of performing their roles safely and efficiently, while also upholding compliance with training and competency requirements. Key Functions and Responsibilities: Conduct and supervise theoretical and practical training for port operations, including inductions and refresher training. Oversee performance of operational trainers and assessors. Evaluate and provide feedback on trainee performance and competency. Ensure assessments are completed within specified timeframes. Maintain training records, ensure compliance with standards, and submit documentation to the Training Officer. Assist in implementing new training systems. Build relationships with internal stakeholders and support the roll-out of training strategies and plans. Key Attributes: Port operations experience is a must. Flexibility to travel around ports Nationally. Strong understanding of health and safety, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. Proficiency in basic computer skills, including email, internet browsing, and Microsoft Word/PowerPoint. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. At a minimum, you must have a National Certificate in Adult Education and Tertiary Education Level 4 (or equivalent).
