We are at the forefront of innovative technology development for standing forests, renewables, bioproducts, energy, and the establishment of a broader-based bioeconomy.We have an exciting role for a Wood Process Engineer to join our Materials Engineering and Manufacturing research group, located at our Rotorua campus.
Reporting to the Team Lead - Materials Analysis, Characterisation and Testing, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide engineering expertise in process development for timber manufacturing, and to support wood processing research and the testing of timber products.We are looking for someone who is driven by continuous improvement, who will provide expertise to contribute to the growth of the timber manufacturing industry in New Zealand.
In your role, you will support the development and optimisation of new processes in the wood manufacturing space.
You will be a great people person with the ability to interact with industry to develop strong relationships with key industry stakeholders.
A key component of this role requires you to regularly engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide them with new research opportunities and solutions.
You will have the ability to provide hands-on construction capability and conduct routine structural testing where required.
A large proportion of this role will be project-based, so you will be required to effectively manage your time and meet deadlines to ensure project success.
