Ngati Kahungunu ki Tamaki-nui-a-Rua, in partnership with Te Ara Totika, is dedicated to enhancing whanau well-being through a Kaupapa Maori approach.
We provide whanau-led, culturally grounded mental health and addiction services to improve the health outcomes of our people.
We work within the W.A.I.O.R.A model, which promotes Whanau Ora, resilience, and holistic well-being.
Position Overview: As a Whanau Ora Practitioner, you will engage with and empower whanau to identify and achieve their aspirations, offering support, advocacy, and guidance through the Te Ara Whanau Ora process.
You will play a key role in helping whanau access services, develop skills, and reach their fullest potential.
You will also facilitate connections with the wider community and ensure whanau are informed and supported throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitate Te Ara Whanau Ora engagements with whanau, identifying aspirations and pathways.
Providing advocacy, coaching, and brokerage to support whanau goals.Maintain accurate records of whanau interactions and ensure data is used to inform practice.Engage with community networks to connect whanau with the services that best meet their needs and support whanau in accessing services such as education, health, and financial management.Promote and maintain strong relationships with iwi, hapu, marae, and other organisations.Help whanau enhance their skills and build confidence in decision-making and self-management.Qualifications & Skills: A working understanding of Whanau Ora and how it applies to your practice.Highly desirable: Completion of Te Ara Whanau Ora training.Proficient in Te Reo Maori and committed to embodying tikanga Maori in all aspects of your work.Proven relationship management skills and experience working within a Maori and community setting.Competent with IT and data management to support reporting and practice.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable, and resilient.Full driver's license
