The Welfare Coordinator is an active member of the Council's Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) team, and key duties will include:Manage BAU welfare capability and capacity buildingLead the development and implementation of the welfare management function in the Council Civil Defence Emergency Operations CentreContribute as a subject matter expert to the development of national, regional and local welfare policy and strategyActing as duty CDEM officer on a rostered basisJoining the response team outside of usual business hours as emergency events ariseHave a comprehensive understanding of Te Tiriti o WaitangiHave welfare experience in a contemporary large-scale emergency responseHold current relationships with community and agency leaders in the welfare sectorUnderstand the national and regional CDEM and welfare arrangementsBe able to remain calm under pressure and sustain a high workload in an emergency responseHave excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trust and confidence among members of vulnerable communitiesWhat's in it for you? Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews may take place prior to the close date.
