The Department of Internal Affairs/Te Tari Taiwhenua has a permanent opportunity for a Web Standards Consultant.
We need you. We are looking for someone who can work with and through agencies, speak and write to practitioners as much as senior leaders, to provide practical advice, assistance and support, driving capability improvement in the NZ Government Web Standards and the delivery of accessible web content. Working at the Department of Internal Affairs, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of New Zealanders.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Subject matter expertise in web accessibility, especially WCAG 2.
Skill identifying the causes of accessibility problems and presenting practical solutions in a detailed manner relevant to the audience.
Ability to self-manage and work closely with members of a tight-knit, fast-moving team.
Proficiency communicating technical issues that have real-life impacts in verbal and written styles suited to senior decision makers in government.
Strong analytical and advisory skills and the ability to think strategically.

It would be great if you also had:

Basic web design and development skills.
An understanding of standards development processes, maturity assessment and risk assessment methodologies.
Relevant domain knowledge, e.g., digital or ICT operations, information management, or consulting and the provision of professional services.
