Team Leaders/Supervisors (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)
Murdoch Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Foodstuffs South Island Ltd; manufacturing and packing a diverse range of food and beverage products for the retail and food service market nationally. Our operations are based across two Christchurch sites: a Dry Packing and Sauce Plant in Wigram and a Beverage Plant in Hornby - all supported by a team of around 50 people.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic leader to drive the efficient warehouse operations at our Wigram site. As a member of our operations leadership team, you will be performing in a hands-on role that would see you equally confident in coordinating and administrating inventory movements for the site, as you are working alongside the team in the warehouse environment.
Hours of work can be discussed in an interview, but this is a full-time day-shift role of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key accountabilities will include:
Promoting and supporting our strong workplace safety culture with all site staff, contractors, and visitors.
Providing direction and leadership to the Warehouse team; managing the flow of work through the warehouse and ensuring resources are matched effectively to demand.
Managing the flow of inventory on, off, and across the site; including oversight of daily booking times and volumes.
Providing support to the inventory team with stocktaking and control on site and with our contracted storage partners.
Ensuring completion of all administration and documentation requirements for the department to meet business needs.
Our ideal applicant would have:
Previous team leadership experience, with the ability to guide and motivate others effectively in a busy environment.
At least 2-3 years' experience in a warehousing environment within the food industry.
Full Driver's License and current F-Endorsed OSH Forklift Certificate.
Strong administration skills including experience in Microsoft applications, SAP, and WMS systems.
Ability to think on their feet to meet competing deadlines during times of pressure.
Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with all people across the business.
Willingness to step up and challenge both themselves and the business to drive continuous improvement.
While previous experience in a similar role would be preferable, if you have supervisory experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or process environment and can adapt your knowledge while learning new skills, we welcome your application.
We support ongoing professional development across our teams and actively encourage opportunities for our people to continue learning and growing within the business through a strong training and development programme.
