Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About The RoleThis role provides additional administrative support to the Surgical and Medical Ward Charge Nurse Managers (CNM) to allow them to focus on clinical leadership and improving standards of care. The role covers several wards, so you will be working alongside a number of Charge Nurse Managers here at Southland Hospital.You will join a team of three Ward Manager Administrators, with your two colleagues based in Dunedin covering the medical and surgical directorates.You will have an opportunity to help improve the timeliness of the important administrative aspects of the Charge Nurse Manager's job which are often delayed due to competing clinical leadership demands. There is potential for great job satisfaction assisting Charge Nurse Managers to complete these activities which will contribute to a safe and effective service.The purpose of this role is to build standardised practice around the administrative component of the CNM role which you will develop and introduce alongside your Dunedin based counterparts. You will need effective communication and computer skills to support this role, and a problem-solving mind. You will also be calm, professional, efficient and a team player. Time management is key as you will work with several Charge Nurse Managers on different work pieces. Confidentiality is an essential part of this role due to the documents and information you will work with. Having the ability to act independently or as part of a team, within set time frames is crucial.Key Duties Will RequireCompetency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook (email).Supporting the CNM in carrying out staff focused administration such as recruitment, appraisals, staff meetings, mandatory training and study leave.Setting up and maintaining effective electronic and paper filing systems and procedures relevant to the service, enabling quick access to information e.g. reporting requirements, patient safety data and displays.Compiling reports and populating data from available systems including patient safety and staff efficiency.Identifying potential improvements to systems and processes to ensure the continuous improvement of administrative duties.Demonstrating excellent customer service skills, by listening and interacting with stakeholders in a courteous, polite and responsive manner while adhering to relevant established protocols.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
