The role of the Volunteer Support Officer (VSO) ensures the capability and sustainability of our volunteer brigades.
The primary focus of this role is to support all volunteer stations within the Central Otago district.
You will:
Support brigade training nights/events by coordinating resources and materials.Complete monthly volunteer station checks and work with the Chief Fire Officer and Brigade on any remedial actions.Assist with new initiatives, equipment, and programmes, either regional or national, to support your volunteer brigades.Coordinate equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement. As this role supports our volunteer brigades, applicants must have flexibility and availability for some evening work and be on an on-call roster.
If you're passionate about the role volunteer brigades play in their communities, then this role will provide you with a unique opportunity to utilise your knowledge and skills to support them.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will: Possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.Be proficient in using MS Office and other IT systems.Exhibit effective communication skills, suitable for collaborating within a small team.Hold a valid driver's license.
