Volunteer Health Shuttle Team Leader | Mercury Bay Casual
Ko wai matou - About us:
Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders and working to save lives since 1885. As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives.
He aha te turanga - About the role:
Making over 65,000 trips per year, the St John Health Shuttle is a free community service that transports people to and from essential medical and health-related appointments. The service is often used by older people, by people who are too unwell to drive a vehicle, and those who cannot access other transport options.
As a Team Leader, you will lead your volunteers to provide a safe and efficient service for clients. You will:
Provide leadership, direction, mentoring, and support to your direct team of volunteers
Oversee the recruitment and retention of your team, including organising activities to attract, induct, and support new and existing members
Coordinate team resources, service and maintenance requests, as well as maintain appropriate rosters
Please note, this is a voluntary position.

South Island - Amberley, Ashburton, Blenheim, Cromwell, Cust/Oxford, Dunedin, Gore, Greymouth, Hokitika, Invercargill, Kaiapoi, Lumsden, Motueka, Nelson, Otautau, Queenstown, Rangiora, Timaru

It is not mandatory to complete shifts on the shuttle; however, it is preferable to get an 'on the ground' understanding of the role and to keep in regular contact with your volunteers.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Excellent communication skills, an empathetic personality, and a genuine interest in the well-being of others
Previous team management experience
Over 18 years of age
