Vocational Training Specialist

Responsibilities:

Facilitate technical training with the support of subject matter experts.

Collaborate with industry to create tailored curricula and assessments.

Work sector-wide to ensure the workforce can deliver a net-zero carbon future.

Support the delivery of lines, substation, and power technician training and facilitation performed by contractors and subject matter experts.

Collaborate closely with industry and stakeholders to create tailored curricula and assessments, including for our Grid & Systems Operations areas.

Ensure high participant completion rates.

Supplement national coordination centre and national grid operations centre trainer/facilitators.

Deliver training critical to building capability of people working with key systems, processes, and tools used to deliver the management and operation of the New Zealand power and market systems.

Support the Manager of Training and Learning.

The Training and Learning team within the Sector Workforce Development Group is focused on enhancing the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of training programs through pedagogical excellence. This commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices ensures that Transpower employees and service provider staff are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to the safety and reliability of the National Grid.

What Will You Bring?

Drive, pace, and a passion for delivering facilitation and training excellence.

Deep experience in training and learning methodologies and tools, with a strong focus on learner achievement.

Training practitioner level experience in complex training technical environments.

Proven ability to work with technical subject matter experts to extract information needed to design appropriate learning solutions.

Strong planning skills and attention to detail.

Outstanding communication skills.

Experience in supporting and mentoring trainers and learners.

Desirable:

Experience and an understanding of te ao Maori principles and their application in the workplace and/or education environment.

Experience in managing academic risk and quality assurance processes.

Knowledge of the electricity supply industry, SCADA applications, and New Zealand Power System.
