Visitor for Groups / Helping with shopping We're looking for friendly people who would like to visit the residents of Ashwood Park and engage with them in small groups, and/or assist them with shopping.
Volunteers can sit and have a cuppa and a chat, listen to the residents' stories, take a stroll, read the newspaper, do a craft project, work on a puzzle, teach a skill, or help the resident with a small shopping trip across the road to Countdown.
At the moment, we are particularly looking to involve volunteers in supporting Ashwood's male residents (playing pool, playing cards, going for a walk, or just having a good ol' chat.
No special skills required - you just need to be able to chat and listen. However, if you have a special skill that you could share with residents (e.g. craft skills), this would also be very much appreciated!
Requirements:
Communication skills, listening skills, patient, mild-mannered.
A Police background check is required for this role.
