The Opportunity The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Central regional team as a Vision Hearing Technician. The primary purpose of this role is to maintain and improve the Vision and Hearing status of children in the Central region through the provision of the National Vision and Hearing Screening programme.
You will provide a quality vision and hearing screening service to early childhood and school-aged children aged 4 to 18 years, including Tympanometry and Audiometry screening services to children aged 12 months to 18 years.
This role is based in Palmerston North but is a whole district role, requiring travel. Occasionally, you may be required to support other districts with appropriate orientation.
About you You are an experienced Vision and Hearing technician able to relate well with children and their families. You have a strong interest in child health and are able to advocate for children and their families accessing the Vision and Hearing Screening Service.
You will also need:
