Carrick Winery is excited to advertise a Vineyard Management position. Our departing Vineyard Manager has a fantastic opportunity to advance their career and the Carrick Team wholeheartedly supports their transition into a new role.
Carrick's vineyards, winery and restaurant are located in Bannockburn, Central Otago. This year the family-owned business is celebrating its 16th year being BioGro certified organic. With many parcels exceeding 28 years in age, we take pride in the diverse range of high-quality wines we are producing from our 24 hectares of vines.
We believe that great wine can be made when our vineyard and winery teams work closely together. In the vines we have an experienced, capable team, many of whom have been with us for several years, but we are looking for a leader who is able to inspire and upskill them. They must be a team-player with previous vineyard management experience and a desire to continuously improve quality.
Reporting to the General Manager, our chosen candidate will be accountable for grape quantity, quality and the vineyard budget while maintaining Carrick's sustainable, organic, and biodynamic grape growing achievements. Responsibilities in the vineyard will include but are not limited to:
Staff training, recruitment & accountability
Pest & disease management
Spray programming
Irrigation scheduling
Frost fighting
Record keeping and compliance
Property cleanliness
Vineyard health & safety
Machinery operations, repairs and maintenance
Promoting the Carrick values & maintaining a healthy workplace culture
Our ideal candidate will:
Have a relevant tertiary education
Be experienced with organic and biodynamic viticulture
Have worked with livestock
Be passionate about Pinot noir and the Central Otago wine industry
Hold a Growsafe Certificate
