VIBRATION TEST ENGINEER - PERMANENT - TELFORDThis is an excellent opportunity to work in a purpose-built test environment, probably the largest of its kind in Europe.
You will program (control systems), operate, and maintain the test rig and its supporting infrastructure.
You will be delivering Hydraulic / Mechanical Vibration Testing capability to support the Challenger 3 Trials programme.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESEnable & perform the day-to-day running/operation of the vibration test facility.Enable & perform basic maintenance tasks (such as filter changes, oil samples, infrastructural and test specimen inspections, etc.
).Support the generation of (& interpret) operational control documentation for the facility (procedures, risk assessments, etc.)
& highlight improvement areas.Support the generation of (& interpret) test documentation (test plans, scripts, etc.)
& highlight improvement areas.Support the processing and analysis of data to feed into the rig and/or that has been generated by the rig.Support future business winning for vibration test work.Be part of (and collaborate with) a team of Trials Engineers to deliver test results and analysis in line with project and timeline requirements.Provide knowledge and expertise on vibration testing and data analysis.Adhere to all safety procedures within the Test Facility in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy and procedures.
Call out and stop any unsafe activity that may be witnessed.Ensure that information and assets are handled in accordance with their security classifications.Ensure that local (rig) data is stored, organised, used, and maintained in accordance with the departmental procedures.Work closely with the Vibration Test Manager to suggest continuous improvements to the process and facility.Log and report any issues or anomalies within the rig control system for investigation by the Vibration Test Manager.WHAT WE NEED FROM YOUKnowledge of mechanical Mass, Spring, Damper dynamic systems.Proven ability running vibration testing using vibration test rigs.Proven ability in Vibration analysis, and be familiar with the meaning, interpretation, and manipulation of Power Spectral Density curves and frequency analysis.
Knowledge of Time Domain and Frequency Domain signal generation and analysis would also be highly valuable.Ability to write technical reports, for example, test plans or reports.Happy, willing, and able to learn new skills, especially as projects change/evolve.Understanding of standard UK workplace health and safety requirements (IOSH, etc.
).Proven ability in verification and validation activities within the Military Land Equipment domain is highly desirable.An understanding of armoured vehicle design, their subsystems, and operation is highly desirable.ADDITIONAL SECURITY INFORMATIONWE SEEK A VIBRATION TEST ENGINEER WHO HAS WORKED IN A MILITARY / DEFENCE ENVIRONMENT / INDUSTRY WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS OR WHO IS CAPABLE OF OBTAINING SECURITY CLEARANCE (SC LEVEL MINIMUM).
