Description At Coastguard, our vision is that with our support everyone can enjoy Aotearoa New Zealand's waters safely and with confidence. We are ambitious to reduce drownings across the motu, and every day we give our all for life on the water, no matter what your waka.
We have around 2,100 volunteers across our 63 Units from Cape Reinga to Bluff and are looking for a Radio Operator to join our Communications North team.
The Radio Operator role is critical to the effective front-line service response to search and rescue incidents on the water provided by highly competent volunteers and professionals. In addition to Search and Rescue services, Coastguard provides a variety of information and educational services designed to maximise the public's safe enjoyment of the water.
As part of the Communications North team, your diverse range of responsibilities will contribute to Coastguard's 24/7, 365-day safety-related communications service. Interacting with a wide range of stakeholders, you will deliver Coastguard's range of safety and information services combined with a series of administrative and project functions for Coastguard, nation-wide.
We are looking for someone who:
has a keen eye for detail

has the ability to plan accurately
exhibits pronounced organisational skills
displays professionalism and pride in their work
The ideal candidate will:
have a background in Marine or emergency services (not essential)
have high levels of competency both with written and spoken English
be a team player with the ability to influence
This full-time, shift pattern role is based at the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre. This role involves a 12-hour shift, based on a rolling shifts roster, two days on, two nights on, and four days off.
