Accountabilities Clinical services • Provide clinical services in dairy herd and individual production
animal health as a veterinarian in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Equitable participation in the after-hours "on-call" roster. Must bewithin 20 minutes travel time of the Farm Service Clinic when on call.Teaching • Contribute to programmes of instruction in individual animal and
whole farm health and production services for students in degree
programmes, including the preparation and presentation of lectures,
laboratory sessions, seminars, tutorials and clinical (on-farm)
instruction in dairy cattle health. Develop and mark assessments.
Develop content, presentation and scope of subjects to be taught inwhole farm health and production services and individual animal
medicine and husbandry; including undertaking such lead academic
roles as course coordination.Contribute to continuing education and professional development forveterinarians.Administrative duties • Contribute to meeting the administrative needs of the University,
internally and externally, by participating in School, College and
University functions as carried out by Boards, Committees, working
parties, groups and offices as may be required or approved from
time to time by the Head of School.
Promote University academic and professional interests by servingon government community, professional, educational or other
organisations in external capacities which utilise and promulgate
specialist academic and technical knowledge, skills and other
expertise, as approved from time to time by the Head of School.Health and Safety • Minimise threats to health and safety of self, staff and students and
proactively engage in implementing Massey University's health and
safety policy.
Animal Ethics • Ensure that all teaching, research and other activities undertaken,
which involve the use of animals of their tissues, are conducted
according to the law and conform with the requirements of the
Massey University Code of Ethical Conduct for the use of Live
Animals for Teaching and Research.

Professional requirements as determined by the Veterinary Council of NZ's Code
expectations of Professional Conduct, and undertaking professional development
in pedagogical knowledge, understanding and expertise.

Qualifications and Experience Qualifications: A veterinary degree registrable in New Zealand is essential.
A higher degree, post-graduate clinical qualification, or clinical
specialisation is desirable.
Experience: Experience in:
the provision of clinical services, whole farm health andproduction programmes to production animal clients is essential.
New Zealand pastoral production systems is desirable.teaching and research or scholarship is desirable
Full drivers' licence is essential. Ability to drive a manual vehicle and
basic trailer skills desirable.
