About the role:
Hours of Work: Monday - 16 hours per week, days negotiable, no on-call/after hours
We are seeking a fully qualified, experienced Veterinarian to join our Invercargill Centre team. This role provides both a unique personal challenge and satisfaction in the knowledge that you will make a real difference to the animals of New Zealand that need our help and care.
What we can offer you:
Opportunity to agree hours/days that suit you (16 hours within Monday-Friday). No after hours, late evenings or on-call.
An amazing opportunity to use your clinical skills in a shelter environment and make a real difference to New Zealand's animals.
A workplace that provides the highest standard of care to all animals, including excellent treatment protocols, strict hygiene standards, and fear-free handling.
Opportunity to work with a devoted team whose core values are about reducing suffering and improving the welfare of animals in need.
What we need from you:
Our ideal candidate will have:
Minimum of 1 year's experience as a Qualified Veterinarian.
Confident with routine surgery and medicine; orthopaedic surgical experience would be desirable.
Excellent personal communication skills, including face-to-face, written, and video conferencing.
Strong time management, organisational and planning ability, and budget management.
Confidence and experience in handling a wide variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised, and wildlife).
Confidence and experience in making difficult decisions.
Experience in Shelter medicine is preferred, but not essential.
A sound understanding of, and empathy with, the goals and values of SPCA.
How you can apply today!
Applications for this role may be reviewed as they are received, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible!
