Vacancy for Digital Preservation Policy and Outreach Specialist at National Library New ZealandVacancy for Digital Preservation Policy and Outreach Specialist at National Library New ZealandWellingtonFull-TimeThe role of the Digital Preservation Policy and Outreach Specialist is to establish the framework for digital preservation policy, strategy and outreach activities as part of the National Library's digital preservation programme. This position is responsible for designing, implementing and communicating preservation policies to define what will be expected to achieve preservation (the duty to the future) while maintaining and promoting access (the duty to the present).At the Department of Internal Affairs, the work we do makes New Zealand a better place for those born here, and those new New Zealanders who have chosen to call this country home.The National Library sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch, the Department's epicentre of information management, culture and heritage. Our branch is all about collecting, storing and preserving important things that are precious to New Zealand.The Digital Preservation Policy and Outreach Specialist will:· Develop and maintain digital preservation policies and strategies· Resolve complex policy issues· Contribute to the continuous improvement of the library's digital preservation programme· Liaise and collaborate with local staff, and regional and international digital preservation peersKey skills and experience (see the full job description for the full list):· Relevant digital preservation knowledge and experience· Experience in developing policy in a library, archive or similar environment· Advanced understanding of computer technology· Demonstrated ability to research and resolve problems· Excellent electronic, written and oral communication skillsIf you want to join a team of smart, committed people who do some spectacular work for New Zealand – then we would very much like to hear from you.
