Our Design Studio consists of leading urban designers and landscape architects who create holistic designs that combine considerations for our future generations and unique identity that makes Aotearoa special. We are a key part of HG's multi-disciplinary service, so you will be working and learning alongside our wider teams of engineers, planners, environmental specialists and surveyors to achieve fully-integrated design outcomes. The principal purpose of the role is to bring your technical expertise and urban design thinking to a diverse and exciting range of urban design projects from scoping right through to consenting. These varied projects will include feasibility studies, master planning, concept designs and subdivisions. This is a dynamic role where you will have the opportunity to contribute to design, manage deliverables, drive forward thinking solutions and continue your own career development journey in urban design. Your skills and experience We're looking for an Intermediate Urban Designer that is on the path to becoming a Senior Urban Designer or a newly promoted Senior Urban Designer that is passionate about continuing their career development journey! You might have a range of different experiences that could be interesting to us but most importantly we believe a positive attitude, willingness to learn, thinking 'outside of the box' and desire to challenge yourself is what will really make you great for this role. If you have qualifications and experience in the following areas, then this role could be right for you! 5-7 years' work experience delivering relevant urban design projects Strong technical proficiency (including AutoCAD, Adobe CS and Sketchup) Excellent knowledge of multi-disciplinary urban development projects including the application of urban design principles Brilliant design creativity and eye for detail Master of Urban Design (MUrbDes) Excellent verbal and written communications skills plus the ability to establish collaborative relationships at multiple levels Knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices Experience in implementing Te Aranga principles into designs and a desire to create collaborative outcomes with tangata whenua Personal leadership, motivation and self-management skills About us For almost 140 years, Harrison Grierson has been engineering the future of New Zealand and, through our many diverse projects, we continue to make our mark on tomorrow.
