Our client here are delivering one of NZ's largest urban regeneration programmes that will ultimately deliver 10, 500 new homes, upgrade streets, parks and town centres, increase transport options, support schools and provide job opportunities. They work closely with mana whenua, community groups, schools & businesses to deliver on their key priorities. This role will lead the urban design masterplanning for neighbourhoods & stages with the regeneration programme, ensuring design are fit for the community & deliverable along with chieving commercial goals. Engagement with key stakeholders involved here is essential & these include Internal delivery teams, Auckland Council, Kainga Ora, design consultants, Senior Leadership Team, community groups, mana whenua. Key responsibilities here will include: Developing design scopes for priority projects based on insights and data to guide the design process and outline key design drivers/parameters Working with architects and urban designers to test different concepts and work with decision makers to agree concepts to develop further Providing design guidance throughout the process of developed design and resource consent to ensure that designs continue to deliver on the outcomes sought Working with Kainga Ora to ensure that neighbourhood plans deliver on the key moves in the Masterplan Providing design review function across all projects at various stages Supporting the development and commercial team to ensure that they can deliver projects in a timely manner Ideally candidates will be able to demonstrate the following: Tertiary qualification in urban design, architecture, planning or related field 5 years' experience in a similar role Understanding of how local & central government operates An understanding and experience of local community (or a similar community) Experience working with diverse communities and cultures - specifically Maori and Pacifika Excellent highly developed interpersonal skills & high degree of cultural competence and ability to engage with different groups This is an exciting role for an urban design professional, looking to stamp their mark on the largest urban regeneration programme in NZ history. The role will be an initial 12 month Fixed term engagement to cover maternity leave but there is every possibility tis could turn into a longer engagement for the right person.
