About the Job
The role of our Unit Support Managers is crucial as they provide vital assistance to volunteers within Coastguard units. You'll serve as the primary connection between units and the regional support team, contributing to improved performance, volunteer welfare, training, and overall support.
The key accountabilities for this role include:
Maximise units' operational performance through working with volunteer leaders surrounding readiness and performance of units.
Lead a culture of safety and embrace ongoing improvements.
Facilitate and oversee volunteer welfare, training, and recognition, ensuring volunteers have access to relevant support services during and following critical incidents.
Enable the effective use of Coastguard resources, ensuring units have the appropriate equipment and that the equipment is serviced to meet H&S and Maritime New Zealand requirements.
Work with units in their regional operations groupings to identify opportunities to remove unnecessary administrative effort by volunteers and units.
Build strong and effective stakeholder relationships.
Contribute positive and collaborative leadership to the regional and national teams.

Experience working in the NFP and/or SAR sector will be useful, as well as an understanding and responding to the motivations of a volunteer/community-based workforce.
This role involves working outside normal office hours, including evening and weekend work, as well as regional travel. Applicants must hold a valid Class 1 Drivers License (vehicle provided) and be entitled to work permanently in New Zealand.
