Job Description: The first PhD project will focus on stream insect biodiversity's influence on energy flow to riparian consumers, involving data collection on stream and riparian invertebrates, energy flux calculations, stable isotope biomarker use, and development of statistical analyses. The second PhD project will explore how terrestrial litter diversity impacts decomposition and energy flow in stream-riparian networks, including deployment of decomposition assays, analysis of consumer and resources for stoichiometric/isotopic composition, and advanced statistical analyses.
The PhD projects will be co-supervised by researchers from New Zealand, Sweden, France, and the USA, with the successful candidates based at the University of Waikato, collaborating with the research groups of Dr. Frank Burdon ( ) and Dr. Andrew Barnes.
