Rolleston South School (Proposed) – Rolleston, South Island Te Rau Horopito is a new school scheduled to open in term 1, 2026 in the Arbor Green subdivision of Rolleston to serve our fast-growing diverse community. 2025 will be a busy year for developing the vision, values, strategic direction, and everything we need to open a future-focused, fantastic new kura while it completes its stage 1 build. It is important that our tumuaki can lead a range of new and experienced staff, and can work effectively alongside the Establishment Board to develop everything to ensure the successful opening of our kura. During 2025, our tumuaki will be responsible for driving the development of our vision and values, staffing our new kura and co-developing our local curriculum. Our kura will reflect the needs and priorities of mana whenua and our diverse community. Key Responsibilities: Creative and adaptable with the ability to effectively lead a new kura An inspiring leader to co-develop an authentic and aspirational vision and lead staff along the journey of understanding and development A strong communicator and relationship builder with the Board, school staff, akonga, whanau, the wider community and mana whenua Able to act as a professional manager in a full primary context Able to navigate school build projects as the school grows, working effectively with the Board Pragmatic, innovative and fully involved in teaching and learning Able to foster a positive and inclusive school culture for students, staff and the local community.
