Lower Moutere Primary School, established in 1857, is located just a few minutes south of Motueka in the scenic Tasman region. With a roll of 250 students from Y1–8, the school serves families from the rural Moutere Valley, Mariri coastal area, Lower Moutere settlement, and the Motueka township.
Our school offers:
a vibrant, safe, and welcoming environment,
passionate and caring professional staff who work collaboratively to create engaging learning experiences,
a rich, localised curriculum that extends learning beyond the school boundaries, and
nine modern learning spaces complemented by a variety of outdoor features to support and enhance learning.
The foundations of our teaching and learning programmes are:
the school motto, "To be the best that we can be," and
our core value of respect : respect for ourselves, others, and the environment.
These are woven into every aspect of school life, embraced by staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
All students engage with te reo and Tikanga Maori, and the school celebrates cultural diversity through various events. Our staff work closely with Rangitane, our local marae Te Awhina, and the resource teacher of Maori to foster a rich cultural environment.
Our tumuaki is well supported by a motivated, enthusiastic, and diverse Board, highly professional and collegial staff, and an active community of whanau and iwi. Our students are engaged, confident, and respectful learners from diverse backgrounds. As a member of the Motueka Kahui Ako, we benefit from strong support for our tumuaki, staff, and akonga.
This is an exciting opportunity for a relational and passionate educational leader to further enhance our unique school community and environment, building on our strong foundations as well as taking the steps and initiative to shift our school forward into the future.
