Tug/General Deckhand Port Otago Group's business comprises a regional container terminal, bulk port activities, cruise and property investment and development. A rare opportunity has become available for a permanent Tug/General Deckhand to join our Marine & Infrastructure team, where you will enjoy stunning views of the Otago Harbour as your place of work. In this role you will be working on our Port Otago owned and operated vessels, particularly our Tugs and Pilot Launch, responsible for both deckhand and maintenance duties on these vessels. You will have the following Key Attributes: An excellent Health and Safety record, and not afraid to speak up! Previous experience as a deckhand is an advantage Working knowledge of marine equipment and procedures desirable The physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, and the ability to obtain a Seafarers Medical The ability to work well as part of a team that requires flexibility 24/7 What you need to know about the role: The Tug/General Deckhands provide cover for 24hrs/day, attending to all ship handling work required while rostered on. Rostering is based on an equal time roster. You may be required to do relief work on other Port Otago vessels as required, and full training will be given to the successful applicant. Heads up: A full clean NZ Drivers licence is essential You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process Random drug and alcohol testing as an employee of Port Otago What's in it for you?
