Organisation DescriptionLife Matters Suicide Prevention Trust is a non-clinical 18+, peer-led organisation providing support to people in mental distress/addiction, bereavement and/or suicidal crisis.
Our Vision is to reduce suicide in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The purpose of our work is to foster hope through our lived experience to build resilience, improve wellness, and reduce suicide.
Our core values are Transparency, Aroha, Trust, Agency/Mana.Particular skills/competencies soughtThe Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust Board is looking for a motivated individual to join our board of trustees as Treasurer.
The position would suit someone who is willing to work with the General Manager on the Trust's finances, work closely with the Chair on the strategic direction, and meet its legal obligations in accordance with the Trust Deed.This role is suitable for someone who is organised and wants to be involved in positive change in the Mental Health sphere.Important skills and attributes sought include:People with lived experience of mental distress and/or addictionsDiversityExperience in the Mental Health SectorKnowledge of the Mental Health System in any capacityKnowledge of Tikanga Maori and Tiriti o WaitangiAdditionally, a keen interest in being part of a collaborative board of trustees who are passionate about creating positive changes in Aotearoa's Mental Health system will be key to your success in this role.Previous governance experience is preferred but not essential as training will be provided to the right individual.Key ResponsibilitiesContributing to board meetings (every six weeks) and collective responsibility for decision-makingContributing, at a governance level, to the development, implementation, and review of the LMSPT's strategic plan and annual work programmeContributing to setting the Life Matters Budget and monitoring its performance with the GMBoard meetings are usually held every six weeks at The Hope Centre in DunedinThis is an unremunerated roleAbility to travel to Dunedin is preferable, but we are open to applications from elsewhere around the country.Commitment RequiredAttend six weekly meetings, each lasting around two hours.Six weekly meetings with the General Manager.TermMinimum 2 years.Geographical ConsiderationsAll of New Zealand considered.ApplyIf you are interested in applying, please get in touch with the Chair of the Board - James Sutherland - at ******
