Transmission Line Engineer (Te Whanganui-a-tara) Apply and develop your civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering, design, project delivery and technical capabilities within the Energy and Transmission Line sectors making a real-world difference building electrical transmission line assets. Broad engineering role, working across projects of different scales, client types, and geographic typographies across both Australia and New Zealand. Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Apply your transmission line, civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical related engineering abilities within a team that investigates, scopes, designs, and delivers transmission line projects.
You will be key in delivering large scale, complex, varied, and unique transmission line related projects throughout Australia and New Zealand, helping to reshape the power and energy networks to enable decarbonisation through the move to renewable energy.

You will be learning from a vast range of Beca Power technical and subject matter experts, with the scope to contribute as well as to develop your particular domain and subject matter experience.
While being based in Wanganui-a-Tara | Wellington, you will be part of a highly diverse and supportive team, with global experience from our technical and project delivery leaders, senior engineers, and newly joined graduates.

Each project will have unique design requirements, topography, scale, and client types.
You'll tackle various design tasks with team support, considering structural loads, site conditions, extreme weather, and geotechnical factors.
Problem-solving and collaborative design solutions will be key aspects of your role.
Experience with design tools, especially PLS-CADD, is advantageous.

Projects range from connecting renewable energy sites to upgrading networks for resilience.
You'll be involved from feasibility to maintenance, investigating electrical clearances, assessing structural capacities, and creating mitigation plans.
This role enhances your power and energy sector expertise, including health and safety standards, supporting your professional growth.

You'll gain on-the-job design experience working on projects across Australia and New Zealand, leading to future career opportunities in technical power and transmission engineering, project management, consulting, and client relationship management.

Mou ake | About you Our Transmission Line Engineers come from a range of engineering backgrounds, united by their passion to make a real-world difference through their engineering, design, problem solving, and project delivery skills.
Joining this team will allow you to bring your engineering abilities to understand client project requirements, analyze and problem solve, as well as your ability to support the design of solutions delivering transmission projects.
You will have the curiosity mindset and skills to research and validate data, drawings, site photos, and maps, as well as the ability to interpret these with on-site visits.

To be successful in this role, you will have previous engineering experience with an understanding of the transmission line sector and projects being an advantage.
This experience could be from a range of roles, such as working in a consulting environment on Transmission Line projects, within an asset owner in the transmission sector, or similar related roles such as with large industrial sites.

You will also be a relationship builder, able to work with other engineers collaboratively on projects, as well as with our clients.
You will enjoy 'picking up the phone' as an approach to connect with clients, especially to problem solve on project site-specific design issues.
You will also be passionate about learning from others, ready to listen, engage, support, and positively query situations with a focus on great project outcomes.
We also like to have fun along the way, so a good sense of humour will hold you in good stead.
