Through the daily monitoring of clients and their transactions, the Transaction Monitoring Analysts plays a key role in ensuring Rabobank meets its Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing regulatory obligations as well as protecting Rabobank, our customers and the financial system from being utilised by criminals for money laundering or terrorist financing purposes.
Context of Job:
The key focus of the Transaction Monitoring Analyst role is the analysis of Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing alerts generated in the automated Transaction Monitoring (TM) system or through Unusual Activity Reports (UAR) submitted by employees to assess for potentially suspicious account activity.

Context of Job:
The key focus of the Transaction Monitoring Analyst role is the analysis of Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing alerts generated in the automated Transaction Monitoring (TM) system or through Unusual Activity Reports (UAR) submitted by employees to assess for potentially suspicious account activity.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Analyse automated TM alerts or UARs in line with department procedures and written instructions.
• Analyse the individual alerts/reports to determine if there is potentially suspicious transaction, activity or behaviour involved.
• Analysis will include
o Reviewing previous alerts and any Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to understand previous unusual activity.
o Understanding the customer's profile including customer's ownership structure, main activities and nature and purpose of account.
o Determining the customer's regular transactions pattern (RTP) and analysis of the 'alerting' transaction(s).
o Assessing the relevance of the geographies of the remitter and beneficiaries of the transaction, where applicable
o Identifying any adverse media relating to the customer or counterparties.
o Concluding whether the 'alerting' transaction(s) fits with the customer profile and RTP and any red flags can be mitigated, or not, and whether the transaction(s) are potentially suspicious.
• Where there are grounds for potential suspicion this is escalated in line with department procedures.
• Provide a clear and concise alert narrative of the analysis undertaken including details on the rationale for any decisions made.
• Compliance with local and global TM alert handling standards.
• Contribute to culture of continuous improvement including streamlining the TM processes and tuning of TM rules.
• Upskill and share knowledge where required.
General

• Assist with additional duties, as required.
Qualifications:
• ACAMS preferable.
Experience:
• 2 years banking experience,
• At least 1 year transaction monitoring alert handling experience.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing typologies and red flags.
• Knowledge of New Zealand AML regulations.
• Knowledge of transaction monitoring alert handling. Skills:
• Strong analytical mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention detail.
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work both independently and as a team player.
