About the Role:
Our Sterile Services Department at the brand new Waipapa Hospital is an integral part of ensuring quality service provision to our community. To ensure that we continue to offer the best patient care, our key team keeps things running smoothly from behind the scenes.
We provide a service to decontaminate, pack, and sterilise instruments for the operating theatres and many other departments.
We are currently looking for a Trainee Sterile Services Technician to join us on a permanent full-time basis. We are keen to hear from candidates looking for a long-term career with training and development opportunities within a crucial service.
Trainees will be supported to complete a fully funded one-year tertiary qualification while you work and earn!
About You:
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Providing direct technical processing of reusable medical devices (RMDs);
Ensuring decontamination through the correct washing process;
Ensuring that the correct sterilisation process is selected and used (Steam, Sterrad etc.) as appropriate;
Ensuring that RMDs are inspected and tested as required and specific to each RMD;
Ensuring all required documentation is completed.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience within a service sector;
Experience in a healthcare/medical setting is desirable but not essential;
Production/Process oriented background with proven ability to work effectively within a large team;
A high level of attention to detail;
You will also need to be physically fit as this role does involve some lifting. This opportunity will see you working rotational shifts between 6:30 am and 11:00 pm.
