Awanui Labs - Canterbury (previously known as Canterbury SCL) is a part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

Our Phlebotomists are fully trained to provide excellent customer service and high-quality care to our patients. This is a busy role, with our team processing up to 3500+ patient specimens every day, working from our 11 collection rooms across Canterbury.
This is a casual position and you will work as and when requested.
The key tasks include blood collection, handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.
Provide professional customer service and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.
Minimum Requirements:
Previous Phlebotomy experience is not essential if you have:
A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.
Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
Reliable transport and full Driver's license.
Eligibility to work in NZ.
