Trainee Network Controller
New Plymouth
Due to the success of our trainee program, we have had someone move into a controller role, and now we have a vacancy.
About the Role:
We are looking for candidates with solid electrical experience, whether you've worked in electricity distribution, as an electrician, or in a related field. You will thrive in a supportive team environment and receive training in the specific skills required.
You will play a key role in studying fault data to improve our response plans, while also assisting Network Controllers.
This role offers the opportunity to work towards gaining competency to become a Network Controller. You will help with real-time operations and make sure Powerco's network policies and procedures are followed.
About You:
This position requires an individual with a background in the electrical industry. You should know about high-voltage network operations and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key responsibilities include:
Fault Data Analysis: Study fault data to improve responses and find better solutions.
Competency Development: Work towards becoming a Network Controller or Senior Network Controller.
Real-time Network Operation: Help with the real-time operation of the high-voltage (HV) network.
Switching Instructions: Create and check high-voltage switching instructions.
Policy Adherence: Make sure Powerco's network operating policies are followed every day.
Complex Situation Analysis: Analyse and solve complex electrical network issues.
Record Maintenance: Keep accurate records of network outages, incidents, and events.
It would be ideal if you have:
Exceptional technical skills.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to be confident and decisive in demanding situations (e.g., storms, unplanned outages).
High competence with technology.
Considerable experience in electricity distribution.
Familiarity with protection systems, SCADA, and Outage Management systems.
