Te aheinga - The opportunity
As a Trainee Field Staff Arborist/Horticulturalist, you will have the unique opportunity to learn and grow within the field of arboriculture while contributing to the maintenance and preservation of New Plymouth's trees and green spaces. This position offers hands-on experience and training, allowing you to become qualified as you work.
Responsibilities:
Assist experienced arborists with tree care and maintenance tasks
Perform pruning, planting, and removal of trees
Conduct tree health assessments and report findings
Operate and maintain arboricultural equipment
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
Participate in training and professional development sessions
Minimum Requirements:
Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn
Full driver's licence (class two licence desirable)
Commitment to obtaining relevant arboricultural qualifications while working
Good communication and teamwork skills
