Company Description Join the Clarus team and enjoy a career full of good energy and great rewards. He aha koe ka aroha ai ki a Clarus (Why you'll love Clarus) At Clarus you're part of a team of talented specialists helping safely deliver the vital energy New Zealand needs to thrive today and in the future. From starting out in Taranaki, our Firstgas, Rockgas, Firstlight Network, Firstlight Renewables, Flexgas, and Gas Service NZ operations now span the length and breadth of Aotearoa — so you're never far away from our good energy. Clarus is investing in opportunities to develop greener alternatives to natural gas and LPG - like partnering with Ecogas to deliver New Zealand's first renewable biomethane project, and working with other gas distributors to trial hydrogen blending. We care about the communities where we live and work and are guided by principles of inclusiveness, kaitiakitanga, and excellence. Job Description He aha tau mahi? - What will you do? We're looking for a Trainee Control Room Operator to join our Gisborne based team on a full-time permanent basis. As a Control Room Operator for our electricity network (Firstlight Network), you can expect to work alongside our talented team to ensure the safe and reliable management of the electricity distribution, transmission, and network connected generation assets. You can expect to grow your career in order to: Manage the day-to-day operation/control of the Network, including Transmission, Distribution, and Generation assets. Manage authorised/approved party access and interaction with the distribution network assets. Manage and complete all of the processes, documentation, and activities for Action Switching and Work applications received from authorised/approved employees and contractors. As a member of the Electricity Control Room team, you will participate in the Network Control Duty Roster (currently Monday-Friday roster), along with after hours on-call and emergency response support. Qualifications Ka mau matou I enei pukenga - What we're looking for: As well as being a great team player with a strong desire to learn, develop, and share knowledge, you will also have excellent communication skills. To be successful in this role, you'll also need to be self-motivated and curious - asking questions and undertaking self-directed learning. It's not essential; however, it would be great if you have EWRB registration and/or relevant electrical qualification, along with 3+ years experience working in the electricity industry - out in the field or in the office. You'll be using Word and Excel in this role, so familiarity and confidence using these is a given. Additional Information Nga ahuatanga kei a matou (What's In It For You) You'll be valued for who you are, rewarded for what you do, and supported to thrive. We'll sweeten your (already nicely competitive) salary with a host of extra benefits including additional leave entitlements, flexible working arrangements, and free insurances and health checks. We'll fuel your professional development, keep you at the top of your game, and help you build the career you want. Our award-winning wellness programme recognises you're more than the job you do and supports you with initiatives like an annual wellness grant and access to professional wellbeing services for you and your whanau.
