We're looking for a Trainee Control Room Operator, to join our Gisborne based team on a full-time permanent basis. As a Control Room Operator for our electricity network (Firstlight Network), you can expect to work alongside our talented team to ensure the safe and reliable management of the electricity distribution, transmission and network connected generation assets. You can expect to grow your career in order to:
Manage the day-to-day operation/control of the Network, including Transmission, Distribution and Generation assets.
Manage authorised/approved party access and interaction with the distribution network assets.
Manage and complete all of the processes, documentation and activities for Action Switching and Work applications received from authorised/approved employees and contractors.
As a member of the Electricity Control Room team, you will participate in the Network Control Duty Roster (currently Monday-Friday roster), along with after hours on-call and emergency response support.

As well as being a great team player with a strong desire to learn, develop and share knowledge, you will have excellent communication skills. To be successful in this role you'll need to be self-motivated and curious - asking questions and undertaking self-directed learning.
It's not essential; however, it would be great if you have EWRB registration and/or relevant electrical qualification, along with 3+ years experience working in the electricity industry - out in the field or in the office. You'll be using Word and Excel in this role, so familiarity and confidence using these is a given.
